However, Japan can seem daunting, particularly for newcomers. Though I advocate for a minimum of 10 days in Japan, I understand that some individuals might be limited to just a week. Hence, I’ve crafted my perfect seven-day itinerary for first-time visitors.

Within a mere seven days, there’s limited ground to cover without rushing. I firmly believe that rushing through isn’t advisable.

This schedule concentrates solely on Tokyo and Kyoto, the foremost favoured destinations, alongside select day excursions from each. If you sought to hasten the pace, Osaka could be incorporated (details provided later).

Japan Itinerary Day 1: Tokyo

Walking tours provide an excellent opportunity to familiarise yourself with the surroundings while engaging with a native guide. Personally, I make it a point to join one or two upon my arrival at a new destination. Tokyo Localised offers numerous complimentary tours, encompassing a classic introduction and explorations of the renowned Harajuku and Shinjuku districts. Following teamLab, the Imperial Palace tour would be the most convenient choice.

The Majestic Royal residence
